End-to-end design of a dual-platform system for healthcare shift management
Healthcare staffing ran on five systems that had nothing to do with each other -- WellSky, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Monday, ADP -- and filling a single shift meant moving between most of them. Shifts sat open for days because nobody could see them across platforms, last-minute cancellations turned into urgent gaps with no fast way to fill them, and in a field where timing is patient care, that fragmentation had actual consequences.
What started as "connect the scheduling" turned into designing two synchronized platforms as one system, where every action on one side had an immediate consequence on the other -- a shift posted by a clinic surfacing on a nurse's feed, a cancellation re-triggering notifications to everyone nearby. It ran 22 months, through a team that doubled mid-project, and it never shipped. The system is complete and documented anyway, which is the part I'd defend.

This is the project I gave everything to. It didn't launch -- but it taught me what it means to design something that genuinely matters.
The short version
What It Is
A dual-platform healthcare workforce system -- a mobile app for nurses and a web dashboard for clinics and agencies -- built to replace fragmented tools and eliminate the delays that cause missed shifts.
Who's It's For
Healthcare workers finding and claiming shifts on mobile; clinics and agencies creating, monitoring and filling those shifts on web.
Where It Landed
Designed end to end and fully documented through December 2024. It did not ship.
